Award Winning Animal Rights Campaigner, Junk to Funk Crafter, Writer and Public Speaker
TV Presenter & Producer
Hello, and thank you for dropping by my new website. I purchased the domain name years ago, but after a life-changing 2021 – battling Covid and now Long Covid – I finally found myself with plenty of time to get it up and running! So, here it is, and to kick it off here is a little bit About Me…
I’ve been lucky enough to enjoy a long and varied career in radio and television, and even luckier to combine my passion for animal welfare with the job of presenting Absolutely Animals and Pet Rescue for Channel 4, and most recently Brits Rescue Romanian Dogs for Together TV. I have been vegan for almost 30 years and am proud to be a Patron of some fabulous animal charities. More about my life working and filming with animals, and rescuing plenty of them, is on the website!
I’m married to actor Gary Webster who is best known for his TV roles in Minder, Eastenders, The Bill and Family Affairs. We met in Panto (Gary was Robin Hood and I was Maid Marion!) and we live in West London with our two sons, Jack, and Freddie. We share our home with our beloved Paws2Rescue dog, Newt.
I was born and bred in The Potteries (Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire) and I visit as often as I can in order to spend time with mum and dad along with other family and friends. Coming from a city so rich in creativity I have always had a love of ceramics, arts and crafts and again have been lucky to combine that interest with work, namely producing and presenting the TV series Crafty Beggars for TLC and Together TV, presenting shows for Create & Craft TV, and working with the amazing people at International Craft & Hobby Fairs.
I am the youngest of three sisters, but sadly an idyllic childhood came to an abrupt end when our ‘middle sister’ (Ruth) died. She was 15 and I was 11. Childhood traumas certainly shape your life and losing Ruth together with being in an abusive relationship whilst still at school most certainly shaped mine! Crumbs, all these years later and I’m only just coming to terms with those events. Suffice to say it’s taken a lot of medication and a lot of counselling, and on this site, you’ll find further explanations as to why I’m so passionate about the subjects of mental health and domestic violence.
